Beaches and sports
Of the four main beaches on Costa Teguise, Las Cucharas is the largest and the only one with golden sand. It is ideal for windsurfers and the PWA World Windsurfing Tour is held here every year. Playa Los Charcos with white sand; Playa Bastián with white sand and volcanic stones; and El Jabillo, the smallest and quietest beach, complete the quartet. Although further away, the beaches Playa Famara, Playa Blanca and the island of La Graciosa are all must-sees.
For sporty types, there is also a golf course (less than 3 km away) and a wide variety of water sports (sailing, surfing, kite surfing, etc.) and an underwater museum for scuba diving lovers.
Leisure
If you are a culture lover, don’t miss the exhibitions and events organised by the Art and Tourism Centres of Cabildo de Lanzarote, which includes the César Manrique Foundation.
Discover the renowned and unique vineyards in La Geria and taste the products of the different “Wine Routes”. Around the resort you can also find a wide variety of restaurants, bars and pubs, shops and markets to enjoy a pleasant day of shopping.
Nature
Lanzarote was declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1993 and over 40% of its territory is a protected area, which delights hikers, cyclists and nature lovers. Timanfaya National Park is the most iconic area on the island, also called Tierra de Fuego. The volcanic eruptions that occurred in the 17th and 18th centuries left very interesting geomorphological structures, which together with the lack of vegetation, the variety of colours and the contrasting silhouettes from the volcanoes and the coast give the park an extraordinary beauty.
